Our group is focused on the development of novel enantioselective strategies for the synthesis of bioisosteres. We rely on different activation modes (photocatalysis, Lewis acid catalysis, transition metal catalysis, and organocatalysis) to achieve our goal.
Remarkably, as part of our research program, we reported two pioneering examples in this research area, establishing two enantioselective methods for the synthesis of enantioenriched ortho- and meta-substituted phenyl bioisosteres (Nat. Chem. 2025 and Nat. Synth. 2026). Moreover, our first publication in this field provided a simple and scalable procedure to access 1,4-bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes via an energy transfer photocatalytic approach (Org. Lett. 2022)
